Real Estate Prelicensing Course
Carol Ball teaches live real estate prelicensing classes through the Carol Ball School of Real Estate. The state approved course features an accelerated schedule held for 11 days, Monday through Saturday of the first week, and Monday through Friday of the second week with the class final given on the last Friday. Daily classes are held from 9-4:30 with the class final on the last day of class from 8:00-12:00. We arrange for the licensing exam provider, PSI, to give the real estate licensing exam on the Saturday immediately after the course ends for those who pass the course whenever possible. General real estate licensing information can be found on the state website http://files.hawaii.gov/dcca/reb/real_ed/gen_info/blue.pdf.
Format
The course format is as follows: 1) a presentation of new material through classroom lecture enhanced by PowerPoint followed by 2) small group discussion of the same material concluding with 3) a 50 question quiz of that same material at the end of the day. That evening the students are expected to study the material assigned for the following day so that they are prepared for the lecture presentation of the material. The following day class begins with a discussion of the quiz given the previous day as a review of the previous day’s material and then continues with the presentation of the new material.
Review
A take-home midterm which consists of a review of the material presented the first week is assigned for the Sunday concluding week one. On the last two days preceding the class final, a thorough review of the course material is held in small groups to prepare the students for the class final and the state exam.
